Shiro-abhyanga is a divine massage for the head. This blissful massage of the shoulders, neck, scalp, head and face is helpful for alleviating stress, anxiety and pain and tension in the head and neck.

Ayurveda considers the body to be like an upside down tree, with the head being the roots. When a tree is diseased, we usually give treatment to the roots. The same can be applied to the human form, and why shirobhyanga is such a wonderful treatment.
Specifically it can help with neck stiffness, weakness of the senses, palsy or facial paralysis, headache, insomnia, dry skin, poor hair growth, dandruff or itchy scalp. It also feels great and offers simple relief to stress and tension.

Shirobhyanga is traditionally performed seated, however there is option to receive the massage lying down.

Shiro-picchu is the methodical and thorough application of oil to the scalp and hair, along with the massage of shirobhyanga. The additional oil treatment is deeply nourishing for the scalp, hair and tension of the head, whilst from an ayurvedic perspective it is an effective way of alleviating vata conditions of the head, neck, facial senses and brain.

Before your shiro treatment, you can select whether you would like the abhyanga (massage only) or picchu (with more oil) option.
